Multicultural sport
Paralympics Australia partners with Welcoming Australia thanks to a grant from the Victorian Government’s Multicultural Sports Fund.
Welcome to the Game is an innovative initiative from Welcoming Australia (formerly Welcome to Australia) that uses sports engagement and other support programs to work with children and young people from migrant, refugee and asylum seeker backgrounds that also live with a disability. The program works to increase resilience skills and physical, social and mental wellbeing.
The goal is for young people living with physical and intellectual disabilities and their families to develop stronger ties to the community (and sport) with increased social participation.
Living Room Sports
Living Room Sports are 30 minute live, online sport and physical activity engagement sessions delivered by experienced coaches. Sessions are inclusive and interactive, designed for children with minimal equipment and able to be safely performed in the home. Our own Andrew Edmondson from the Australian Steelers Wheelchair Rugby team joined Welcoming Sport to host a live session full of great tips and drills from his garage via Facebook.
