Sarah Clifton-Bligh started her journey in athletics in primary school. Unable to compete in Little Athletics, due to the track, Sarah was determined to compete. Over the next decade, the versatile athlete entered in all the track events and throws. Although her debut was in the 100m, she has won national titles in the throws and endurance events. Sarah made her international debut in 2019 at the Arafura Games. In 2021, Clifton-Bligh was awarded the 2021/22 Kurt Fearnley Scholarship, to support her journey to the Commonwealth Games.
Dabbling in both track and field events, Clifton-Bligh has honed her focus to wheelchair racing in the T33 classification, and in 2021 was ranked number one in the world in the 100m T33 event after clocking a time under 24 seconds.
In her Commonwealth Games debut in Birmingham 2022, in the T34 100m, Sarah placed fifth in a time of 22.71 seconds.
When she’s not on the track, Sarah enjoys reading, listening to music, cooking. She also has a passion for sewing and designing clothes that are accessible for people in wheelchairs.
