The South Sydney local began a new training regime under top Australian hammer throwers, Karyne Di Marco and Breanne Clement, placing sixth at the 2013 IPC World Championships in Lyon, France and seventh in 2015 in Doha, Qatar. Nicole was then selected to represent Australia at the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio, and threw the shot 11.53m to finish seventh and set new Australian and Oceanian records.
Athletics isn’t the only sporting discipline Nicole is skilled in, having also represented Australia in skiing and basketball as part of the Special Olympic Team and at the INAS-FID Global Games. The opportunity to represent Australia at both these events in the same year is one of the highlights of her still early career.
Nicole’s pre-competition routine is to wear an old pair of socks, and her ultimate sporting goal is to compete at both a Summer and Winter Paralympic Games.
In her spare time, Nicole works as a fitness coach and personal trainer, having completed a Certificate III, Certificate IV and Diploma in Fitness. She enjoys playing sport, travelling overseas and spending time with family and friends.
