Matthew Clarke is a force within his own right as an Olympic Athlete and fierce competitor in track and field sports.
Clarke built his skill in track from 19 years old. He competed in 2018 in the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games Trials of a time of 3:44 over 1500m. The same year, he became a guide for Jarryd Clifford. In 2024, he would have the opportunity to guide for Clifford again in the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games.
From 2019 onwards, Clarke began a competitive career in Steeplechase, representing Australia at national events, breaking his personal bests at each turn. Soon enough, he managed to qualify for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. Although he missed the podium and placed 14th in his heat, the opportunity solidified his career as an Olympic athlete.
