After taking part in his first Para-triathlon in 2018, Liam Twomey was competing for Australia within six months.

Six years of hard work, dedication and training later and he is now of to Paris 2024 as a member of the Australian Paralympic Team competing at the Paralympic Games.

Diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer, Liam was forced to have his right leg amputated below his knee at the age of seven in 2001.

While the operation ended his cancer battle, it caused him anguish above the shoulders during his teenage years growing up in Melbourne.

He found himself swimming but was urged by other triathletes to give the gruelling sport a go, with a chance meeting with Brant Garvey at a prosthetic running clinic day in Queensland sealing the deal.
