At age 16 in 2012, he acquired paraplegia in an accident while competing at the Junior Motocross Championships and, while in rehab, he was visited by current Australian Rollers player Jannik Blair.
“Mate, you need to get into wheelchair basketball,” Jannik told Jeremy. “It’s a great sport.” Sure enough, Jeremy took up the advice and fell in love with shooting hoops, this time as a wheelchair basketball player.
Jeremy looks back fondly on his time playing at the U23 World Championships in Canada in 2017, where he helped the Spinners come back from a big deficit in their final match to claim the bronze medal.
At Tokyo 2020, The Rollers improved on their sixth-place finish at Rio 2016, beating Turkey in their final match to secure fifth place.
When he’s not playing basketball, Jeremy enjoys going to local footy and cricket, as well as doing a spot of fishing and camping.
