Guy moved to Perth from Bath, England in 2011. The dedication he brought to swimming has earned him an admirable career as a Paralympian for Australia.
Guy was born with congenital bilateral talipes, a condition where his feet are twisted out of position. Starting swimming at the age of three, it had already been a big part of his life in England. After his big move to Perth with gratitude towards the Australian coaches that led him to be the swimmer he is today, he ultimately chose to represent Australia after gaining citizenship. He’s competed under green and gold ever since.
Guy qualified and competed in his first international competition in Pasadena, California for the 2014 Pan Pacific Para Swimming Championships, and later in the 2015 IPC Swimming World Championships. Guy secured a bronze medal, and had set a new Oceania record for the 400m Freestyle.
He made his debut as a Paralympian in Rio 2016. He competed fiercely in the Men’s 400m Freestyle and 50m Freestyle. Although, ultimately not securing a place on the podium, he remains an admirable sportsman and has offered his skills and talent to give back to his community.
Guy announced his retirement from competitive swimming in 2020. After his career as a Paralympian, he was elected captain for his Acadia University swimming varsity team, and continues to be a strong leader amongst his peers, faculty, and sport.
