David Bryant’s para-triathlon journey started with a humble 20-minute jog as part of rehabilitation. In his teens, he started running as a means of rehabilitation after an operation to address a growing disparity in the length of his legs.
His attention turned from Ironman and marathon running towards para-triathlon after Triathlon Australia approached David to see if he was keen to get classified and see what he could achieve.
In 2019, David won the Devonport ITU Paratriathlon World Cup and the Australian Paratriathlon National Championships for PTS5 Men.
He also took out the Paratriathlon Oceania Championships in his classification in 2020.
Selected for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, David finished seventh with a time of 1:02.30.
David is also an Accredited Practising Dietitian and Advanced Sports Dietitian. He has worked as a personal trainer.
