Bobbi Kelly can laugh about it now, but in her early experiences in Paralympic snowsports she says she made more than a couple of embarrassing gaffs.
The reason she can laugh about it these days is because by 2019, as the sighted guide for World Champion Mel Perrine, the pair had a stand-out season. Together they won 12 medals on the World Cup circuit and four medals at the 2019 World Para-alpine Skiing Championships – a feat which Kelly lists as her career highlight.
Kelly combined with dual PyeongChang bronze medallist Perrine at Beijing 2022 Winter Paralympic Games in the Giant Slalom and Slalom. The pair finished in sixth position in the Women’s Giant Slalom Vision Impaired event in a time of 2:07.01. They closed their campaign with the Women’s Slalom Vision Impaired event, however after striking a gate in the second run, the duo recorded a DNF.
The Jindabyne local wants to run her own family business one day, working in the winter sport accommodation industry, says her favourite holiday destination is Spain and her favourite sports stars are tennis superstar Williams sisters. Kelly also enjoys mountain biking, kicking the footy and hanging out with friends and family.
