Growing up swimming from a young age, Alexander Tuckfield began to swim competitively in 2015. Born with congenital cerebral palsy, the NSW native grew up participating cross country running, however made the switch to swimming, showing promise in the pool immediately. The 16-year-old currently trains under Gavin Stewart at the SLC Aquadot Swim Club.
In 2020, Alexander set a world record when he placed second in the men’s 200m freestyle multi class event at the Hancock Prospecting Australian Virtual Short Course, touching the wall with a time of 2:01.41.
At the 2021 Australian Swimming Trials, Tuckfield qualified for the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games when he placed second in the men’s 400m freestyle S9.
Alexander Tuckfield made his international debut at Tokyo 2020, winning a bronze medal in the men’s 400m freestyle S9 event.
When he’s not in the pool, Alexander can be found listening to his favourite band TOOL or playing video games.
