Dreams of Paralympic gold are keeping our star athletes motivated as the NSW Government provides a big boost towards their Tokyo Paralympic Games Appeal.
A year out from next year’s postponed Paralympic Summer Games, Acting Minister for Sport Geoff Lee confirmed $330,000 to help our team stay on target.
“This is just another way we are helping our Para-athletes as they push towards Tokyo and we are so proud to support these inspirational Australians,” said Mr Lee.
“This team has proven time and again they have the skills and resilience to overcome any obstacle and achieve success and I am sure they will do us proud again in 2021.”
Paralympics Australia Chief Executive Officer Lynne Anderson said she applauded the NSW Government for their generous funding support.
“The NSW Government has been a long-time and hugely valued supporter of our organisation and the state’s amazing Para-athletes,” Ms Anderson said.
“This funding will greatly assist with the critical games planning, preparation and support we will provide to the members of our Paralympic Team.
“In an uncertain and challenging time for everyone involved in the Paralympic movement, this gives us a much-needed boost to keep pushing towards Tokyo.
“I’ve said many times that Australian sport is at its best when its key players are working together and this has never been truer than in the current challenging environment. NSW plays a central role to the success of Australia’s Paralympic Team.”
The Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games will be held 24th August – 5 September 2021.
