Para-sport fans will be able to get up close and personal with the Australian Paralympic Team, with the launch of Paralympics Australia’s new fan engagement platform, AUS Squad.
AUS Squad is the official cheer squad of the Australian Paralympic Team, and the new platform is designed to provide an insight into what goes on behind the scenes as Australia’s Para-athletes prepare to make their mark on the world stage.
Fans can join AUS Squad from today (7 February) at aussquad.org.au.
With limited opportunities for Australians to experience live Para-sport before the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, AUS Squad provides the chance for fans, both new and exisiting, to engage with the Team in a way they never have before, and learn about Para-sport before the grand spectacle, the Paralympic Games, begins this August.
As an extra incentive to join AUS Squad, fans also will get insider access to Paralympics Australia’s Tokyo 2020 campaign and receive exclusive content, special offers and experiences from Paralympics Australia and its partners, members-only e-newsletters, plus access to official merchandise so they can truly feel part of the Team in August this year.
“With today marking 200 days to go until the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, we are beyond thrilled to be launching AUS Squad to Australia’s Para-sport fans,” said Paralympics Australia’s Chief Executive Officer, Lynne Anderson.
“The support of the Australian public is one of the main drivers for our athletes to train hard each day and it certainly makes them proud to wear the green and gold.
“To thank Australians for backing us over the years, we have created a space especially for them to engage with our Team and follow their journey, and it will also hopefully strengthen the relationship between our athletes and new fans, and help them enjoy Paralympic sport to its fullest extent.”
Two-time Paralympian Ahmed Kelly said he can’t wait for fans to join himself and the rest of the Team on the journey to the Paralympic Games.
“The support we receive from the wider Australian public means everything to us, and it’s the single thing that allows us to do what we love most,” he said.
“Knowing that Australians can get another look into the Team and engage with us before the Games begin gives me an extra boost to train even harder.
“Tokyo 2020 is going to be the best Games yet, so I highly encourage everybody to waste no time and join AUS Squad now.”
