One of Australia’s best sporting partnerships might never have been if it hadn’t been for a chance meeting.

Ashlee Maddern had just returned home from a ski season in Canada.

On her first day back at work on Australian soil, Maddern bumped into Boccia champion Dan Michel’s mum, who happened to be asking around looking for a ramp operator to join her son.

Maddern’s boss suggested she would be a great choice – and as they say, the rest is history.

Maddern and Michel have been working together for more than a decade now, making a formidable duo on and off the Boccia courts, saying she is so happy to be competing with Michel every day.

Maddern says she truly has the best job in the world because she gets to play sport, represent her country and hang out with one of her best friends every day.
