Three-time ITU World Para-triathlon gold medallist Justin Godfrey’s Paralympic dreams are finally within reach after having his hopes of competing in the green and gold dashed multiple times.
Justin was in his early teens when a motorcycle accident resulted in his lower leg being severely damaged and eventually amputated.
After being introduced to Wheelchair Basketball during rehab he then competed and played nationally before a switch to cross country and endurance mountain bike events. In 2012, he was approached by a local triathlon coach, and this set him on the path to learning to swim and to try running.
Justin went on to have many successes including winning three World Para Triathlon gold medals. He puts much of his success down to the unwavering support of his beautiful wife and two amazing daughters who have been on this journey with him every step of the way.

Justin was well placed leading up to triathlon’s introduction to the Paralympic Games at Rio 2016.
However, when the program for Rio was released, the classifications in which he competed was not included. When the same thing happened for Tokyo 2020, Justin moved towards cross-triathlon.
Relief came in late 2021, when the International Paralympic Committee’s Governing Board approved the expansion of the triathlon program for Paris 2024.
