Paralympics Australia (PA) has congratulated Mark Arbib on his appointment as Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC).
Paralympics Australia Chief Executive Officer Cameron Murray welcomed Mr Arbib to the role, acknowledging his extensive experience and connections to the Paralympic Movement in previous roles as the Federal Sports Minister, President of Athletics Australia and Board Member of the World Anti-Doping Authority.
“Mr Arbib’s knowledge and understanding of the sporting landscape will be a great asset to the AOC and the Australian sporting system. He has a strong track record of delivering success and he understands the vital role that athletes and sport play in bringing benefits to our communities,” Mr Murray said.
“We look forward to working together to drive a successful era for Australian sport and to ensure that our athletes and teams continue to thrive on the world stage.”
PA also acknowledged the significant contribution of outgoing AOC CEO Matt Carroll, who will step down in May after eight years in the role.
“Matt has been a strong leader of the AOC and a valued ally of the Paralympic Movement during his tenure,” Mr Murray said.
“His commitment to collaboration and advocacy has helped strengthen the relationship between our organisations and we thank him for his dedication to Australian sport.”
Mr Arbib will officially commence in the role on Monday, May 5, with a two-week transition period before Mr Carroll departs on Friday, May 16.
