Name: Ben Troy

Role: Chef de Mission, 2026 Australian Winter Paralympic Team

Interesting fact about you: Over 20 years ago as a rookie ski instructor at Thredbo Ski Resort, I choose to train as an adaptive ski instructor to add some additional skills to my instructor capability and have the chance to work with some amazing people helping them find their love of Snowsports. My fellow rookies and I used to joke about how fun it would be to attend a Winter Paralympics as a coach one day and now I have to pinch myself that I not only get to attend but get to lead these amazing Athletes as their Chef de Mission.

What do you like to do outside of ‘work’?
Skiing! You can find me most Friday afternoons of the Australian ski season loading my wife and 6-year-old son into the car to drive to Thredbo. Being able to teach, and now ski with my son will never get old.

How long have you been with PA?
I joined PA as a short-term contractor to help out with the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games and never left.

What are your goals for your role at PA?
To create an amazing high-performance environment that support our incredible Winter Athletes achieve an outcome they are proud of. Whilst doing this, I hope we can connect the Australian public with our small but ferocious Winter Athlete cohort and show the public a new side of sport that has to be seen to be believed. Finally I want to continue the legacy and hard work of those who have come before me, creating a Team culture second to none across our amazing Mob.

Why should someone donate to PA?
Donating goes beyond financial support; it is an investment in dreams, dedication, and the power of human potential. Your contribution helps break down barriers, when you donate, you’re backing the dreams of athletes who will inspire a generation, uplift communities and remind us all that with passion and dedication, that anything is possible.

Is there anything you would like to say to our generous donors?
Thank you for being part of our team. Your support small or large makes a real and lasting impact, allowing our athletes to achieve greatness on the world stage.
