The new-look Australian Sports Commission (ASC) Board announced by the Australian Government has been warmly welcomed by Paralympics Australia President Alison Creagh.

The appointment of four new Commissioners – Lydia Williams OLY, Andrew Purchas OAM, Dr Chloe Flutter, and Selwyn Button – comes at an important time for Australian sport.

They will join a Board that importantly features representation with strong links to the Paralympic movement, following the reappointment of former Paralympics Australia CEO Lynne Anderson after her first three-year term concluded last year, alongside dual Paralympian Bridie Kean who was appointed last May.

Paralympics Australia President Alison Creagh welcomed the appointments and reaffirmed PA’s commitment to working closely with the ASC to strengthen Australian sport at all levels.

“We congratulate all the new Commissioners, who can count on the full support of Paralympics Australia to ensure Australian sport continues to thrive,” Ms Creagh said.

“We are especially delighted to see voices with strong Paralympic knowledge represented with Lynne Anderson’s reappointment alongside Bridie Kean who continues to lead with her expertise and lived experiences. Their understanding and advocacy for inclusive sport is invaluable as we work together to create a sporting system that caters for more Australians than ever before.”

Ms Creagh also acknowledged outgoing Commissioner and Paralympic legend Kurt Fearnley AO PLY for his immense contributions over the past six years.

“Kurt has been an influential force for inclusion and accessibility in Australian sport, and his impact on the ASC and broader sporting community has been profound,” Ms Creagh said. “We are grateful for his dedication and leadership and know he will continue to inspire and drive positive change.”

The new-look ASC Board will oversee the continued development of Australian sport, with a strong focus on governance, equity, and high-performance outcomes in the lead-up to Brisbane 2032 and beyond.
