Paralympics Australia is deeply saddened by the passing of two-time Winter Paralympian Marty Mayberry.
Mayberry was an outstanding alpine skier whose remarkable career was highlighted by a silver medal in the men’s downhill event at the Vancouver 2010 Paralympic Games and multiple podium finishes at World Cup level.
Paralympics Australia Chief Executive Officer Cameron Murray said Mayberry’s impact on Australian Paralympic winter sport would be felt for a long time to come.
“On behalf of Paralympics Australia, I extend our deepest condolences to Marty’s family, friends, and teammates,” Mr. Murray said. “We join with the entire Australian Para-sport community in mourning his loss and remembering his incredible contributions to Paralympic sport.
“Marty was a much-loved member of the Paralympic family. His Paralympic silver medal and World Cup victory are testaments to his talent and dedication, but Marty’s legacy extends far beyond his achievements.
“He was a genuine, kind-hearted individual who touched the lives of everyone around him.”
