Mizuno will unveil its exclusive shoe design for the Australian Paralympic Team later this year after the famous sporting goods brand extended its proud partnership with Paralympics Australia.
Mizuno teamed with Australia’s elite Paralympians as Official Sport Shoe Supplier in the lead-up to Tokyo 2020 and the new agreement will extend the relationship beyond Paris 2024.
An estimated 400 athletes and staff will be fitted out in Mizuno’s sport uniform footwear at the Paris Games, which starts in 449 days.
The footwear will be custom tailored to the Australian Team colours, with inspiration from Aboriginal artist and Yuin woman Rheanna Lotter’s artwork ‘The Journey’, which has featured on Australian Paralympic Team official attire since the Rio 2016 Games.
Paralympics Australia Chief Executive Catherine Clark said the partnership extension with Mizuno was another sign of PA’s strengthening partner portfolio.
“It’s wonderful to have Mizuno join us on the journey to Paris 2024 after we established our partnership in 2019,” Clark said.
“Our organisations share a similar view that sport has the power to improve lives and bring people together and I know our athletes and staff will wear their Mizuno gear at the Games with immense pride and gratitude.”
Mizuno Australia’s Director of Sales and Marketing Shane Holub said Mizuno was honoured and excited to extend its relationship with Paralympics Australia.
“We were thrilled when we first came on board in the lead up to Tokyo 2020. To be able to re-sign for the upcoming Games solidifies our commitment to the Australian Paralympic Team and the Paralympic movement,” Holub said.
“The custom designed shoe is a welcome addition to the partnership. We’ve done a lot of work behind the scenes and have worked closely with the Paralympics Australia team to put together a shoe design that we know the athletes will enjoy and feel proud wearing. We can’t wait to share it with the Australian public.”
