The 2019 Para-dressage National Championships is set to deliver a week of hotly contested competition at Boneo Park on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula from 14-17 November.
An exciting addition to the Australian Para-equestrian calendar, the Championships will include a CPEDI3* class, which will count towards qualification for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.
There is a record number of entries in the CPEDI3* class, with 18 combinations competing across all five grades. Each combination will perform their tests before two Tokyo 2020 judges, offering a unique opportunity ahead of the Games next year. The all-important performance could carry the riders one step closer to a spot on the 2020 Australian Paralympic Team.
The event will also incorporate able-bodied classes, adding additional support and atmosphere to the already greatly anticipated Championships event.
“It is great to see a record number of athletes competing in the CPEDI3* class, and vying for a spot on the Australian Paralympic Team,” said Equestrian Australia’s High Performance Director, Chris Webb. “The increase in combinations and the dedication of our athletes is a strong indication of the talent pool we will have for Tokyo 2020 selection.”
