APC Logo

The APC Logo
Vibrancy, activity and endeavour were the foundation for the APC logo which was developed in 1997 with the aim of taking the APC and its athletes to the Sydney 2000 Paralympic Games and beyond.

The logo contains the profile of an athlete within a flowing Australian shaped background. The colours represent sea and sunburnt-earth and although these could be perceived as green and gold they are not necessarily intended to reflect the official Australian sporting colours.

The image combines the elements of the Australian coastline with the exuberance of an athlete breaking the tape at a finish line, signifying our athletes with a disability breaking through life’s barriers to become elite competitors in their chosen sport, representing Australia at international competitions.

Paralympians
The word Paralympian can only be used when describing a Paralympic athlete who has previously represented Australia at a Paralympic Games. Paralympic athletes who have attended world championships and other major international competitions for the Australian Paralympic Committee cannot be described as Paralympians. Current members of the Australian Paralympic Committee training squads are referred to as Paralympic athletes. Athletes in development squads or those aspiring to APC training squad level should be referred to as athletes with a disability.
