Join some of Australia’s Paralympic hopefuls for the Weekend Sunrise Parathon in Sydney’s Martin Place this Saturday, in their quest to raise funds to send the 2016 Australian Paralympic Team to Rio.
In an effort to send the Australian Paralympic Team to Rio this year, the Seven Network will broadcast a special extended version of Weekend Sunrise, called the Weekend Sunrise Parathon, live from Sydney’s Martin Place this Saturday, March 5 between 7am – 12pm AEDT.
Featuring Paralympic athletes from around the country, including three-time Paralympic wheelchair rugby player Ryley Batt, reigning Paralympic swimming champion Ellie Cole and dual World Championship winning wheelchair basketballer Tristan Knowles along with other special guests, the Weekend Sunrise Parathon will give viewers an insight into the stories behind Australia’s 2016 Paralympic Team and give the Australian public an opportunity to donate much-needed financial assistance to help ensure the Australian Paralympic Team can realise their dreams in Rio this September.
Members of the public are encouraged to join the action at Martin Place. Aside from the chance to meet some of the country’s Paralympic stars, there will be a number of activities to get involved in, including a wheelchair simulation race thanks to Woolworths, along with other activities for the family to enjoy.
All money raised at the Weekend Sunrise Parathon will go directly towards sending the Team to the Paralympic Games.
Funds raised above the APC’s $7 million funding target will be used for community driven programs to identify future generations of Paralympians.
